STORIES FROM THE MUCK

BEHIND THE SCENES

For the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2022, we partnered with our good friends at Sustainable Garden Solutions to create a unique space that draws inspiration from Muck Boot’s agricultural roots, whilst fusing this with the traditional English countryside.

CULTURE

At the end of May, the Saving Wildcats Project announced the first kittens had been born at our dedicated conservation breeding for release centre. Based at the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland’s Highland Wildlife Park, this centre is the first of its kind in the UK and an integral part of our European partnership project which aims to prevent the extinction of wildcats in Scotland by breeding and releasing them into the wild.

LIFESTYLE

It’s 7am in the morning and I’m standing on a misty foreshore of the River Thames in London. It’s eerily silent and peaceful. The tide is on the way out and there are two hours until it will be at its lowest. I feel a sense of anticipation and excitement as I start my morning’s mudlark. I walk along the mud slowly and carefully, looking down as I do so to see what the tide has left out for me to find today.

PRODUCT

Now that the weather is warming up, we are all looking forward to longer days and a respite from the cooler weather.

In between seasons brings some very special sights as the population wakes every morning without a clue what to wear. Take a trip out and you will see some in winter coats, hats, scarves, and gloves and other in shorts
and t-shirts.

CULTURE

Muck is proud of our relationship with the Urban Farming Institute, an incredible organisation in the backyard of the Boston-area office headquarters. This season, we visited the farm to learn more about their incredible work and capture photography assets for our Spring collection.

PRODUCT

So, we say goodbye to April now May is upon us, and summer is not far off. This often heralds the first opportunity for all those outdoor jobs the winter months made impossible or at least undesirable.

CULTURE

The adrenaline is truly flowing from around March onwards. Lambing time is approaching, we’ve managed to keep the pregnant ewes safe and well through the unforgiving winter and the new grass shoots and longer days are on the horizon but those last few weeks before their due date drags.

CULTURE

Wildcats, a different species from your domestic pet cats at home, are Britain’s last remaining native wild felid. With their distinctly ringed, blunt, bushy tails, these charismatic animals are Scotland’s very own Highland tigers.

PRODUCT

Spring has sprung, the sun is out, and the air is alive to the sound of lawnmowers – cylinder, electric, petrol and even robotic.

However, the mornings can still be cold and dewy and let’s be honest, a shower is never far away in the UK!

PRODUCT

Insoles, insocks, sockliners, footbed insert. It may have many names, but this material plays a key part in the relationship between your foot and your footwear.

CULTURE

For those of the population that choose to have meat in their diet, the percentage of which who know the anatomy of the animal in which they are consuming is fairly low.

BEHIND THE SCENES

Here at The Original Muck Boot Company, we never use models to tell our brand story. Instead, we connect with our hard-working community to capture our footwear being put through their paces in everyday lives. The Morndyke family have worn Muck Boot for generations, and we were honoured to collaborate for our Winter Photoshoot.

LIFESTYLE

Raclette is such a simple dish, taking minutes to melt. Celebrate Valentine's Day in style with a romantic meal on the beach – you might need a warm coat and your Muck Boots!

BEHIND THE SCENES

Sue Flood is an award-winning photographer and filmmaker, zoologist, adventure travel leader and public speaker. Her work takes her all over the world, but she has a special passion for the wildlife and icy beauty of the Polar regions and is one of the very few women professional photographers who returns again and again to Earth’s harshest and most demanding environments.

CULTURE

Over the course of the last century, much of the world’s wetlands have disappeared, allied to this we have lost so much of the wildlife that relies upon this important habitat.

PRODUCT

Muck Boots started out in recognition of a universal problem - muck. Wet, messy, muddy, dirty muck, and we determined to find a solution for keeping our feet warm and dry through it all.

LIFESTYLE

Brussels sprouts are in season and what better way to spruce up this humble veggie with Quicke’s Devonshire Red Cheese. It’s fresh, it’s lemony, and gloriously crumbly. Love or hate sprouts, you’ll never look at sprouts the same way again.

LIFESTYLE

This Christmas period brings lots of special occasions, family and friends, and food and drink. And when it comes to keeping your pet safe, there’s more to think about than usual.

PRODUCT

With winter’s icy grip almost upon us, The Original Muck Boot Company recognises the confusion customers face when trying to find the right waterproof boots to keep them warm, dry and comfortable.

LIFESTYLE

A carpet of golden leaves, cosy layers, the scent of bonfires in the air and a toasty fire to warm your toes. Autumn brings with it comfort food galore – warming soups, tasty stews and brightly coloured seasonal produce. This recipe celebrates the classic French Onion soup using award-winning Quicke’s cheese – a proper winter warmer.
