The Original Muck Boot Company…beyond the FAQ’s
So, you are considering investing in a pair of Muck Boots, you’ve done your research, chosen a style but still have questions.
The Original Muck Boot Company was formed over 25 years ago in the American mid-West. The original purpose was to meet the needs of farmers and ranchers who needed footwear that was 100% waterproof, but also warm and comfortable.
From this original beginning The Original Muck Boot Company pioneered the development of rubber/neoprene footwear and is now the Global brand you see today offering premium outdoor footwear solutions.
The Original Muck Boot Company was acquired by ROCKY BRANDS INC in 2021. Rocky brands are a generational company based in Ohio, USA. Muck Boots are part of a family of brands including Xtratuf, Rocky Boots, Georgia Boots and Durango.
We source our materials and manufacturing on a global basis to ensure we deliver the best value and quality we can.

Are Muck Boots 100% waterproof?
Absolutely! Our neoprene bootie construction envelopes the whole foot, is 100% waterproof and provides comfort and insulation.
Do Muck Boots offer value?
We are part of a global footwear company. We know shoes and while we won’t suit all of the people all of the time, we are confident that our footwear knowledge provides a superior fit for unparalleled comfort. There are always less expensive options, but our customers see their footwear choice as an investment in comfortable, practical and durable boots.
How long do Muck Boots last?
Muck Boots are designed to be warm, dry, comfortable and durable. However, they are not indestructible, and lifespan is affected by the conditions they are worn in, how they are cared for and stored, individual biomechanics and how often they are worn.
All of our boots are covered by a limited warranty from new, against any fault of material or manufacture.

How do I stop cracks?
Like all natural materials, without proper care and nourishment, the rubber will dry and crack, particularly over the stress points caused by natural foot movement. See our care guide here for more information.

How do Muck Boots fit?
It is important to understand that size and fit are different. Sizes are a guide and subject to interpretation. They will also be affected by last design, materials and construction techniques so trying first is always a good idea. Our fit is pretty true, so use your existing footwear as a guide then adjust up or down to refine the fit. Ideally you need room in the toe box to allow for the natural spread of the foot and a snug fit in the heel to avoid slipping.
We also understand the physiological differences between men and women, and we build our product on male or female specific lasts. Fit is often enhanced if you select a boot that is gender specific.
Our boots also come with a removeable insole which can be removed to accommodate different insole types if required. We always recommend trying your boots with your orthoses first to ensure their fit and comfort.
Our purpose
Muck Boots were born out of necessity. We cater for those who live, love and work the land. We have a range of boots varying in height and outsole design to provide peak performance in various environments. Always try and choose the right boot for the right task. Commercial grade field boots are not designed for driving for example.
Why do my boots smell?
Bacteria. We all sweat (OK ladies “glow”, gentlemen “perspire” and the rest of us sweat).
It’s perfectly natural. However, when our feet sweat it helps produce the perfect dark, warm and damp environment bacteria love. It’s the bacteria that smell and it’s the same for all your footwear. Leaving the boots to stand will stop the pong as the bacteria become dormant. However, as soon as your foot warms them up…the smell is back!
Keeping your feet and socks clean is the starting point – obvs. In addition you may want to use an anti-bacterial wipe on the inside of the boot.
Most of our boots are also treated with NZYME and BIODEWIX to help manage odour and breathability.
